Since the company was established, Tellepsen has called Houston our home. We pride ourselves on building some of the most impactful projects for our community. We concentrate our efforts on projects in Houston and the surrounding twelve counties. This ensures we stay focused on the relationships, markets, and trends in this area. We do from time to time reach beyond this footprint, but we do so we do so to support existing client relationships, not in efforts to expand our geographic reach.
We are Builders
Tellepsen was founded in a time where the term “master builder” showed the respect and appreciation for the skill and expertise of the builder. The builder took the vision of a project and made it a reality. The construction industry has evolved over the years to one that embraces the term “general contractor” symbolizing the reduced role for the builder. At Tellepsen we hold tight to our role as builder. We focus not only on managing trades but driving the entire construction process through thoughtful planning, coordination, and execution.
Committed to a Diverse Portfolio
The built environment in Houston is an extremely diverse collection of structures crossing a wide array of markets sectors, building types, and uses. We have been very intentional to ensure we maintain a diversified portfolio of projects that reflect this variety. At the same time, we strive to engage on the one of a kind or first of its kind projects that further expand our experience. There are very few projects that will fall into a category that we do not have experience in or have a willingness to undertake.
One Size Project Does Not Fit All
We have never built the same project twice. Each project requires a specialized approach to ensure successful delivery. We understand that we must have a number of tools in our arsenal to deploy when needed. Therefore, we have built specialized teams to deliver any kind no matter the size or complexity. We have the team to deliver fast-paced service projects, special projects that others refuse to pursue, ground up, interior buildouts, or renovations of any kind.
Preconstruction is a Science
The large majority of our projects include a preconstruction phase where we plan and budget the work. Philosophically, we believe preconstruction is a science that requires a focused team of professionals to ensure a high level of success. We have built a robust department to deliver a high-quality preconstruction experience that guides our clients in the right direction from the start. Our dedicated group can focus their attention on planning and budgeting the project through highly effective processes and close relationships with our network of trade partners.

This is why we hold safety as our number one core value and not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. Safety is a culture that we work on daily; constantly reinforcing its importance throughout all levels of the organization through consistently putting safety above all else. We are committed to ensuring that each worker that steps foot on a Tellepsen project, return home each day to their families in the same way they arrived.

“Do it right the first time” rings as true today as it did when our founder, Tom Tellepsen, consistently said it in the early 1900s. These words guide all that we do. One way this can be seen is in our dedicated department built of full-time multidisciplinary professionals that focus on quality assurance/quality control. Each member of the team has specialized training, education and experience that uniquely qualifies them to provide oversight and support to our project teams. The group has annually been recognized as “One of the Best” by AXA XL Corporate Quality Management Benchmarking Assessment.
