The Center for Petrochemical, Energy, and Technology is a 152,000-square-foot facility which includes process operations, instrumentation, electrical, nondestructive testing, and craft trades. It also includes an 8,000-square-foot glycol distillation unit to teach process operations and develop troubleshooting skills for students and incumbent workers. A state-of-the-art control room inside the building operates the glycol distillation unit with an emphasis on optimizing safety, efficiency, and ergonomic human factors. The facility and its curriculum were developed with feedback from an advisory council of leaders in the petrochemical industry and plant managers.
